Though, in some parts of India, they are more generally used as headgears. They are usually worn over one shoulder by younger women and can be a highly ornamental accessory.

Salwar kameez is flawless for festivals. For one, they can be very attractive and they evoke the spirit of the festivals. They are also very relaxed – much like jeans and t-shirts. This means that whoever wears them can dance the night away without fear of a wardrobe malfunction. What’s even better is that the salwar kameez collective flatters every figure. You do not have to be ultra-skinny to look good in one. There are styles that would look cute on a petite person, and there are designs that are flawless for the skinny person who wants to look somewhat full-figured. For plus-size women, there are tunics that can emphasize the waistline and complement the figure.

If you take a look at vendor websites for Indian Salwar Kameez ensembles, you would notice that there is usually an entire category dedicated to festival fashion. This only proves that while India festivals may be a celebration of life, they can also be a celebration of fashion.
